Layline wasn’t founded by investors, but by people who haul boats into the water on Saturday mornings. We wanted one thing: for every session to tell you something — and for it to be easy to share with the crew you train with.
Our story
It started with a soaked notebook and a spreadsheet nobody filled in. Times, wind direction, how the boat behaved on the upwind leg — it was all lost before any trend could emerge.
Layline takes that record off your hands. A phone in a waterproof pouch logs the track, you add a few notes after the session, and your coach sees exactly what needs to come up at the debrief.

2024
First notes on the shore
A coach and parent in one person could no longer keep up with logging sessions in a notebook. The first mobile prototype was born.
2025
Club pilot
A group of Optimist, ILCA and RS Feva sailors tested the app for a whole season. Their feedback shaped the offline mode and debriefs.
2026
Layline for everyone
We’re opening the app to more clubs and launching the community feed, leaderboards and the coach portal.

Four things we insist on
Practice before theory
Every feature gets tried on the water first. If it doesn’t hold up in gloves in seven metres of wind, it doesn’t belong in the app.
The data belongs to the athlete
Most of our users are children and teenagers. Sharing is always voluntary, and only what a club chooses to publish is public.
Community, not rankings at any cost
Motivation should come from progress and the crew around you, not from pressure. That’s why we build on sharing, not just on standings.
The coach is part of the team
A logbook without feedback is just an archive. That’s why the coach portal is an equal part of the product, not an afterthought.
